About Trademark Renewal

In today’s ever-evolving business environment, your trademark is not only a unique name or a symbol—it’s your brand’s identity. It makes you unique, creates confidence among your customers, and gives legal protection to your business. But did you know? Registering a trademark is not a once-off process, however. You need to renew it at the appropriate time to preserve your rights and enjoy exclusivity.

Whether you’re a well-established business or just starting your business journey, understanding trademark renewal is very important to ensure your brand remains protected and recognized in the market.

CORPMATE helps startups, SMEs, and brands across Punjab, Delhi‑NCR, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and other Indian states to renew trademarks on time and avoid cancellation.

Trademark renewal is the process of extending the validity of your registered trademark for another 10‑year term. It is done by filing Form TM‑R with the Trademark Registry and paying the prescribed fee. If not renewed:

  • The trademark may be removed from the register
  • Competitors can adopt a similar mark
  • You may lose exclusive brand rights

CORPMATE tracks expiry dates, prepares documents, and files renewals so your brand stays protected continuously.

You don’t have to wait until the last moment. In fact, early renewal is always better.

  • Within 6 months before expiry (recommended)
  • Within 6 months after expiry (with late fee)

If both windows are missed, restoring your trademark becomes more complicated and costly.

To renew your trademark, you will require:

  1. A copy of the original trademark registration certificate.
  2. A copy of the TM-A form (submitted during initial registration).
  3. Application for Trademark Renewal and Procedure
  4. Proof of applicant address and identity.
  5. A Power of Attorney (in case of application through a legal representative).

Why Trademark Renewal is Important?

Trademark renewal is an important step for businesses that want to maintain long-term brand protection in India. Whether you’re a startup, small business, or established company, renewing your trademark on time ensures your brand identity remains secure and legally protected from infringement.

Maintains exclusive ownership of your brand
Prevent misuse or duplication by competitors
Avoid legal risks and re-registration hassles
Protects brand reputation and goodwill
Ensure uninterrupted protection under trademark law
